The Nguni

The natural beauty, multi-coloured and variously patterned hides of South Africa’s indigenous Nguni Cattle inspired the creation of our one-of-a-kind, with hair-on products to honour their legacy.

The Nguni cattle were herded, named after and joined the Nguni people on their south-bound migration from North Africa through East Africa. During this 80-centuries-long journey through Africa, the Nguni’s have evolved and adapted to Africa’s extreme environmental conditions. They arrived in Southern Africa as a hardy, superior breed, sporting disease resistance, high fertility, easy temperament and adaptability, as well as hides renowned for durability, naturally stain resistance, hypoallergenic qualities, no discoloration, minimal hair-loss, strength, beautiful colours and varied patterns.
